What are other advantages?
Maintenance and cleaning is another area where solid wood cabinetry shines. The durable surfaces are easier to clean and maintain. And can even be repainted or refinished years down the road. Pre-fab cabinets are unlikely to last more than a generation and oftentimes cannot be refinished to an updated color or style.
Why do we recommend solid hardwood?
All of our products are made out of solid hardwood. There are many advantages to solid wood cabinetry. Real wood is durable, and will hold up much better to everyday use. Cabinetry in areas like your kitchen or utility rooms get a lot of wear and tear.
Are Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets Better?
Solid wood cabinets are known for their stability and durability. They are capable of lasting decades compared to other types of cabinets. Solid wood cabinets are also significantly more water resistant than other types of cabinets. We’ve seen it first hand, a water leak under a sink that goes on for a mere day can cause composite cabinets to swell and lose their structure. In some scenarios a minor water leak can lead to needing to replace entire sections of cabinetry. Whereas solid wood cabinets (while not impermeable) are much more resistant to water damage, and will not likely allow any damage to spread.
